Honored as “A real industrial leader in the English books market”, the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press Co Ltd (FLTRP) is a university press established and operated by Beijing Foreign Studies University.

Founded in 1979, the FLTRP has become the largest university press and the largest foreign language publishing organization in China. It produces more than 5,000 publications every year, over 1,200 of which are new books. About 200 publications have received book awards in China and abroad. In addition, it also publishes a dozen periodicals including Foreign Language Teaching and Research, Contemporary Linguistics and English Language Learning.

The Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) attends the 7th session of the Sino-Spanish Forum.

The press takes up nearly half of the college English textbooks’ market share, and more than 30 percent of that of primary and middle schools. Approximately 23 million primary and middle school students are learning from textbooks published by the FLTRP.

As for general English books, the market share of the press is about 26 percent, the highest in China, and more than the combined shares of the next five largest presses. What’s more, its Japanese, German, French and Russian books also enjoy the largest domestic market shares.
