Tencent Technology (Beijing) Co Ltd was officially established in Haidian Technology Park in March 2006. With a management philosophy of “serve the users”, Tencent has developed quickly and steadily.
The current goal of Tencent is to provide “one-stop online daily services” for its users. It provides Internet and mobile and telecom value-added services, as well as online advertising. Tencent has built up the country’s biggest Internet community with leading online platforms including QQ, Wechat, QQ.com, Tencent Games, QZone, wireless portals, Soso, paipai.com, and tenpay.com, which serve communications, information, entertainment and E-commerce needs.
The long term development plan of Tencent is to build up a national brand based on independent innovation, and its long term goal is to become the most respected Internet company in China. Tencent has always been devoted to the public good, and actively shouldered its social responsibility as a company while promoting the healthy development of the Internet.
In 2006, the first Internet charity public welfare foundation in China— the Tencent Charity Public Welfare Foundation--was established, and gongyi.qq.com was set up. The foundation assists in education of the young, development of poor areas, care of vulnerable groups, and disaster relief works. Tencent is carrying out several charity projects around the country to help build a harmonious society.
