Beijing Cultural Creative Week held in Mexico City

Beijing Cultural Creative Week, a cultural promotion event hosted by Beijing as the guest of honor at the 10th Mexico City International Friendship Cultural Expo, opened in Mexico City Museum, Mexico on June 12. 

"China is playing an important role in the 2018 Mexico City International Friendship Cultural Expo. Beijing, as a guest of honor, will help further Mexicans' understanding of the city through various activities and we hope more communication and partnerships between the two cities will be realized in the future," said a representative of the mayor of Mexico City, speaking at the opening ceremony of the event.

The cultural creative week in Mexico City, a vital stop in Beijing's efforts to promote itself throughout Latin America, included events such as a promotion meeting, business matching activities and cultural performances.

The series of events aims to further partnerships between cultural creative companies and institutions in China and Mexico, as well as establish a platform for exhibiting, promoting, communicating and trading cultural resources between China and Mexico by showcasing Beijing's achievements in the cultural creative sector.

Dong Dianyi, deputy director of the State-owned Cultural Assets Supervision and Administration Office (SOCASAO), introduced the development and opening-up policies of Beijing's cultural creative sector to Mexican universities and colleges, representatives of cultural creative companies, and institutions at a promotion negotiation event during the cultural creative week.

Representatives of related universities, companies and institutions from Beijing promoted themselves at the event, exploring opportunities for cooperation with Mexico in the design and cultural creative sectors.

Throughout the week, events were held to highlight the various types of cultural heritage that can be experienced in Beijing, with a focus on kits, calligraphy, dough modeling and paper-cutting –– allowing Mexicans to enjoy the charms of traditional Chinese culture.

During Beijing Cultural Creative Week, representatives of Beijing Design Week and Mexico Design Week signed a partnership agreement on developing the two cities into famous design cities, improving the international city network and promoting exchange visits between each other.

Beijing Cultural Creative Week will last until June 16. During the Mexico City International Friendship Cultural Expo, Beijing also held other cultural and art events such as the Chinese Design, Culture, and Life Experience Exhibition. The events held by guests of honor will last until Aug 12.
