Beijing cultural consumption season coming soon

The 6th Beijing People Beneficial Cultural Consumption Season will be held from late August to late October, according to a press conference in Beijing on Aug 21.

The main venue of this year’s event is to be set in Beijing while Hebei province and Tianjin will serve as branch venues to expand its nationwide influence.

Featuring culture, consumption and public benefit, the event focuses on promoting Chinese mainstream culture with technology and financial resources. 

The cultural consumption season will include 20 large exhibitions, 30 cultural activities, 300 performances and 5,000 films, including the 2018 China (Beijing) Performing Arts Expo and the Beijing International Book Festival.

In addition, the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up, preparations for the XXIV Olympic Winter Games and World Horticultural Exhibitions, and some cultural projects like the construction of cultural Sanlitun will be important parts of the event.

Officers attending the conference included Dong Dianyi, deputy director of the State-owned Cultural Assets Supervision and Administration Office (SOCASAO), Guan Yu, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture, Wang Yefei, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, and Yu Ping, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage.
