Beijing Universal Studios Theme Park and Resort Project is located in Tongzhou district, near the center of Beijing. Its core area is 1.2 square kilometers with a total area over 4 square kilometers. A total of over $6.5 billion was spent on this project. The project mainly includes the first and second phases of the theme park, a water park and five additional resort hotels. It is scheduled for completion and operation in 2019.

In addition to the popular Harry Potter theme park, some classical Universal Studio attractions and some latest additions will also be featured at the theme park.

In order to integrate into Chinese culture, Beijing Universal Studio Theme Park will build more park attractions with Chinese characteristics. Considering the long winter in Beijing, the park will introduce more indoor entertainment facilities, so that tourists can enjoy a trip to Beijing Universal Studio Theme Park all year round.

The theme park is expected to be completed and start operating in 2019, the same time as the east extension line of Metro Line 7, which can directly deliver visitors from downtown Beijing to the entrance of Universal Studio Theme Park, making it the most convenient way for visitors to get there.
