International industrial conglomerate Reignwood Group together with its government and social partners established a Silk Road Cultural Exchange Center in Singapore on Tuesday.

With Singapore an attractive investor and shipping hub under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, the move is designed to enhance personal exchange between China and partner countries, according to Yan Bin, chairman of the Beijing-headquartered group.

"We are willing to continuously promote cultural exchanges, common economic development, and make greater contributions to the development of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road," said Yan, who also is the co-chair of the Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong).

Officials from the Chinese embassy in Singapore and the Chinese Culture Promotion Society participated in the center's establishment ceremony on Tuesday.

"Singapore has strong Chinese cultural heritage among southeast Asian and South Asian countries. The joint development of Singaporean and Chinese cultural activities is practical for promoting things like traditional tea ceremonies, Chinese painting and Chinese medicine," said Que Xiaohua, cultural councilor of the Chinese embassy in Singapore.
