Index of China's cultural industry development unveiled

|Updated : 2020-07-01

The official version of China's cultural industry high-quality development index (2019) was recently announced at an online seminar on the "high-quality development of China's cultural industry in the post-epidemic period," organized by the index's developers.

The new index was jointly developed by the Institute of Culture and Economics of the Central University of Finance and Economics, Beijing Cultural Investment Big Data Co Ltd and Xinhuanet Co Ltd.

The seminar was told that the assessments conducted to compile the index adopted the basic model of looking at the input levels and output quality of the cultural industry as a whole.

They said this is so as to measure the high-quality development framework of the industry, to better match the needs of a wide range of people to have a better life.

The seminar was told that new index showed that first, the overall quality of China's cultural industry development was found to be low.

It also showed that the overall development of China's cultural development was still in the critical period of transformation from high-speed growth to high-quality development.

The index showed that, second, there are great differences in development between regions and within regions.

The seminar was told that regional differences in the overall development quality of China's cultural industry were generally consistent with the regional differences in the overall development level of the national economy.

This is gradually decreasing from the eastern coastal areas to the inland areas.

Third, the input and output of China's cultural industry is not balanced and there are still 19 provinces in the low input - low output state.

Fourth, there seemed to be a shortcoming in the  potential benefits from innovation in the high-quality development of China's cultural industry.
