The Beijing International Conference on E-sports Innovation and Development was held both offline and online at Shougang Steel Industrial Park in Beijing on Aug 15, featuring a main forum and four parallel forums, according to a news report on people.com.cn.

Focusing on business innovation, concept innovation, mode innovation and talent-training innovation in the e-sports industry, officials said the conference was the climax for a series of activities called “2020 Beijing E-sports”.

At the conference, Haidian district, Shijingshan district and Beijing Economic-Technological Development Zone in Beijing issued their respective support policies for the e-sports industry.

According to local officials, in the future Beijing will make concerted efforts in high-quality production, science and technology applications and other aspects and underpin the development of the e-sports industry through support funds and various preferential policies.

At the same time, in order to better promote the industry's integration of its internal resources, its complementary advantages, collaborative links and common development, a series of new e-sports industry projects were signed.

Among the projects inaugurated was the Beijing e-sports industry brand center and the Beijing game innovation experience zone. A 5G cloud e-sports industry alliance and the Beijing e-sports industry development association were also established at the conference.

Local officials said that as the first large-scale event in Beijing after the novel coronavirus pandemic had eased, the conference was not only an important initiative to promote the economic and social resumption of work and production in Beijing, but would also accelerate the high-quality development of the field of "culture+internet".

They said it was a concrete step taken to implement Beijing's 28 measures on accelerating the cultivation and expansion of new business forms, promoting high-quality economic development, coping with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic situation and promoting the healthy development of cultural enterprises.

It is being seen as of great significance in promoting the development of Beijing's e-sports industry.

Officials said it is expected to help provide a good start to further attracting industry resources and talent in Beijing.
