Western Beijing's Mentougou district rolled out six travel routes featuring the country's revolutionary history and culture in late June.
The routes were launched by the district culture and tourism bureau and offer a taste of historical landmarks and museums scattered in the picturesque natural landscape.
They cover historical commanding centers, memorial halls and patriotism education facilities across Mentougou.

To spice up the travel experience, the local authority has also prepared exploration of the Jingxi ancient road and local food and farming culture at Gushan village. Hiking and cycling experiences, as well as close touch with local intangible culture and folk customs are also in place.
Courtyards and homestays with the old-time elements have also been arranged to bring visitors back to the past through immersive experiences.
