Beijing launches global zodiac design competition
The 2023 Global Zodiac Design Competition, organized by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and Central Academy of Fine Arts, kicked off in Beijing on July 31, 2022.
The competition, which has been held successfully several times, extensively collects design works related to the zodiac of the next year, and aims to spread the culture of Chinese zodiac and Spring Festival, and endow the traditional Chinese zodiac with new vitality.
Since ancient times, Chinese people have chosen 12 animal images as auspicious symbols for the year to express people's wish for a better life, and thus formed the Chinese zodiac culture. This custom has spread to many places around the world. Many countries now issue stamps during Spring Festival to express their blessings for the new year.
Since next year is the Year of the Rabbit, the fourth animal of the Chinese zodiac, the competition requires designs related to rabbit. Competitors can know about more information on the official website of the competition and sign up for it. Result will be announced in November, and the prizewinning designs will be exhibited online and offline, and transformed into cultural and creative products.
