International forum on animation and game industry kicks off

The 16th International Forum on Animation and Game Industry Development was held on Sept 2 at the Chaolin Songyuan Hotel, Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. The theme of the forum is "New Opportunities for Digital Economy and New Era of Animation and Games".

It was co-sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Beijing State-owned Cultural Assets Administration Center (SOCAAC), and the Economic Development Zone Management Committee. It was undertaken by the Beijing Municipal Cultural Promotion Center and supported by Shangyicheng (Beijing) Technology Co-organized by Culture Group Co., Ltd.

Industry leaders   discussed theories and technical applications of the animation and game industry through keynote speeches, dialogues, promotions, investment symposiums, and exhibitions.  The discussions were held within  the context of the current cultural digitalization.

Zhao Enguo, deputy director of the Municipal SOCAAC, pointed out that in recent years, the digital economy has become a new engine for global economic development. He said Beijing has made positive progress in promoting the construction of a benchmark city for the global digital economy. In 2021, the added value of Beijing's digital economy reached 1.6 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.1 percent over the previous year, accounting for 40.4 percent of the city's GDP. The scale of the digital economy is in a leading position nationwide.

The animation and game industry has achieved rapid development in 2021 despite the impact of the epidemic. The total output value of Beijing's animation enterprises is about 18.05 billion yuan, an increase of about 13.7 percent year-on-year; the total output value of Beijing game enterprises will reach about 1022.6 100 million yuan, an increase of about 11.6 percent year-on-year, accounting for about 34.4 percent of the national game market revenue. The export output value of Beijing animation and game companies reached 57.53 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 27.1 percent. The animation and game industry's ability to resist risks has been continuously enhanced.

Since its establishment in 2007, the forum has always kept abreast of the current situation of development, discussed cutting-edge trends, and played a leading role. It has become an important brand event for information exchange, technology display, brand promotion, and international cooperation.
