With the successful inclusion of 751 D-Park onto the list of state-level blocks serving tourism and leisure, Chaoyang district of Beijing is set to build eight culture, tourism and consumption blocks in the second round.

The eight district-level candidate blocks are: Liangma River International Waterfront, 751 D-Park, Beijing Happy Valley, Langyuan Station, INDIGO commercial complex, Beijing Tuner Tribe and Wangjing Hopson Kirin Place.

751 D-Park is adjacent to 798 Art Zone and it is easy and convenient for people to travel between the two. 751 D-Park used to be an industrial area and played a vital role in electricity and gas supplies for Beijing before it shutdown in 2003.

Zhang Yi, general manager of 751 D-Park, said that the former industrial park made the hard decision to keep its equipment intact and transform the facilities into a new park, instead of selling relevant land parcels for the development of real estate programs.

Beijing launched a campaign to build cultural creative industrial clusters and came up with a development path for the development of its cultural creative industry in 2006. A year later, 751 D-Park was formally unveiled.

Over the past 13 years, more than 150 design and planning agencies have settled in 751 D-Park, and a number of high-level festivals and activities, including China Fashion Week, China Graduate Fashion Week and the Beijing Opera Carnival, have all been held there.

Jin Guojian, a director from AceGear, said that the inscription of 751 D-Park onto the list of state-level tourism and leisure blocks will attract more visitors and promote corporate development in the future.

According to Zhang, 751 D-Park will adhere to an integrated development approach of its cultural, tourism and industrial sectors, and will attach great importance to the availability of public cultural services and to the cultivation of new tourism and consumption forms in a move to deliver new growth momentum for the entire region.

Moreover, 751 D-Park will endeavor to become a highland of talent, make full use of its industrial resources, and deepen the integration of its cultural, tourism and technological sectors.

Taikoo Li Sanlitun is another state-level tourism and leisure block in Chaoyang. It was added to the list in 2022.

Taikoo Li Sanlitun, which is comprised of southern, northern and western sections, has become a popular destination among young people since its inauguration in 2008. There are many global leading shopping malls located in the area.

To further promote the coordinated development of cultural and tourism industries and unleash the potential of cultural consumption, Chaoyang is planning to build 30 special blocks integrated with culture, tourism and consumption functions during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

Furthermore, the district will strive to build a group of demonstration projects for the integration of roads and neighboring scenery, invigorate the nighttime economy, foster a batch of model projects known for culture-tourism integration, develop new landmarks, sports & tourism complexes, bases and travel routes, and support the building of Beijing into an international consumption hub.
