New Year concert finally dazzles Beijing
Under the baton of conductor Jin Gang, the symphony orchestra of China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater performed a concert at the Beijing Exhibition Hall on Feb 26.
The concert, the 27th New Year concert produced by Beijing Artists Management Corp Ltd, was scheduled to be held on Jan 1, but was postponed due to the pandemic.
Pieces, such as Ode to the Red Flag,composed by Lyu Qiming; Unter Donner und Blitz (Thunder and Lightning); Op. 324 by Johann Strauss; and Hungarian Dances, a set of 21 dances composed by Johannes Brahms, were performed during the concert.
The concert ended up with the orchestra performing the third and fourth movements of Dvorak's Symphony No 8.
